How we do it
EPDM rubber suits most extensions, garages and dormers and typically lasts 30 to 50 years. GRP gives a hard finish that takes foot traffic, so it suits balconies. Modern torch on felt remains cost effective over larger commercial areas.
Most flat roof failures are detailing failures, not material failures. We replace soft or rotten decking rather than covering it, and form proper falls so water runs to the outlet instead of ponding.
Upstands at abutments to a minimum of 150mm, properly terminated, and outlets sized for the area they drain. On a cold deck roof we add ventilation so condensation does not do the job of a leak.
